At the end of every day we have a countless thoughts that creep into our self-indulgent mind, some stray thoughts and many others about how the day panned out for us. Every incident has an emotion that triggers a response. We are either- happy, sad, disappointed, furious, excited, annoyed or even blank at times, but yes we think and continue to think to no avail.
I sat pondering over “another eventful” day at work when I chanced upon my childhood album that lay amidst the tattered books in the shelf. A thick film of dust had happily settled on the brown laminated cover, indicating the “age” of the album. It had been over two decades and the fond old memories remain concealed in print. A smart little kid, fair, cheerful and innocent,
playing with little stones and sand adorned the cover page. It was a little ‘Me”, in a blissful world of joy, mirth and ignorance. The next picture was of a pair of tiny shoes placed in a refrigerator. As a three year old, I kept my new bought shoes (for preservation) in a refrigerator!! A golden moment captured on camera.
Most of the pictures were either funny or foolish. There was also a snap where I was dressed as a bride for a fancy dress competition. No sooner it caught my eye, I deftly hid it behind a “sensible snap”. We all like to shield ourselves from perceived mockery!
What struck me most was that there was a sense of joy and happiness in each of the frames, never a dull moment .It was a blissful life .My funny and foolish acts were a source of infinite joy then.
Had life changed? Had I changed?
It was my outlook of the “self-created “world that had changed by leaps and bounds. Work, pressure, responsibility, accountability –were the fancy terms that defined my life. I had stopped being that foolish child.

When is the last time you danced in the rain unmindful of the “moving world”? When is the last time you sang (or brayed like a donkey) to soak in the glory of self-appreciation? When is the last time you cracked a silly joke unmindful of the response? When is the last time you lived the life of an innocent child ?
If it’s been long, then re-ignite the little child in you. Relive the moments of joy, mirth and happiness. Each of us live in our self created world. Life is all about “making our choices”, either to be happy or to remain embroiled in a world of complexity. Make your choice. It is only YOU, who has the power to redefine your life –“The Power Of One “.
In the larger perspective of life, the countless thoughts that pervade our everyday lives JUST DONT MATTER. Life is all about ‘living in the moment” and cherishing the little joys that surround us. My 3-year old niece from London awaits me on Skype. A “monstrous “uncle, brings back a priceless smile on the little one. It’s great to be a clown, it’s great to be foolish and relive the life of a little child.
Bring back the child in you.
